Deliverance (Chapter 1) Disclaimer: Ennis is Annie Proulx’s character, no doubt about it. Summary: A decade later, Ennis makes a friend at the bar. Note: The Texas-speak is speculative. Please forgive any errant monophthongs or other phonetic wrongdoing.
This is an expanded version of a story published earlier this year. I couldn’t upload the entire story at once, so it is still in eight chapters. Tendrils of smoke swirled up around Ennis Del Mar’s face ( Read more... )

Jake and Heath's compensation
I'm almost losing sleep over this, because Jake and Heath did such incredible work in BBM. You probably all know that Randy Quaid is suing the producers because they paid him only $500,000 for a "low-budget" movie instead of the seven figures he usually gets. Apparently $13.5 million or whatever the cost is about twice what a low-budget film is defined as, so maybe he has a point. But I am worried about Jake and Heath. I assume they both usually command seven figures, too, but does anyone know if they are getting a percent of gross or anything? I sure hope so--would love to hear that it's 10 percent each! Any industry insiders out there? I don't know where to find such info. Thanks. | | Tuesday, March 28th, 2006 | | 5:41 pm |

Silence Rating: PG-13 for graphic unpleasantry Disclaimer: These are Annie Proulx’s characters, although I wish I could have protected Jack. Summary: Jack’s death, from his POV. Not sure where this came from. Catharsis perhaps? Note: My first fanfic ever—comments appreciated, including constructive criticism. No name calling of course, but if you can help me improve my writing, please do so. Too many words? Too many question marks? Let me know! Thank you. Brokeback Mountain poster I thought my first contribution would be pornographic slash, but no, it’s a [mercifully short?] bit of poetry instead, inspired by that incredibly evocative poster. Thanks to kyo2121 for link to the Newsweek article, where I found this passage: When it came time to design the poster for the film, [producer James] Schamus didn't research posters of famous Westerns for ideas. He looked at the posters of the 50 most romantic movies ever made. "If you look at our poster," he says, "you can see traces of our inspiration, 'Titanic'."
Boys in Blue (yes, that poster…)
The careful composition: a dangerously intimate proximity, yet the possibility of departures in opposite directions. But always the beautiful backdrop. Calgary, Wyoming, wherever—a terrible beauty. So much love to be drawn from this vast wilderness! A snapshot of a very sunny moment, one of many, but never enough. Sun night and day when they are together. A private world of hope and promise? Perhaps. A chance to really know each other? Perhaps. The pending asymmetry of separate journeys, but always the symmetry of love. The matching denim jackets--boys in blue, these two. But eventually the denim will fall away. Their fresh skin radiating an innocence not yet outgrown, they will turn and face each other, and their eyes will meet. True blue, these two.
